Owners who are cautious of the chemicals and want a natural solution to keeo their flock healthy lean towards essential oils for optimal health for their chickens. The pure volatile oil is usually steam distilled from a part of a plant to make the oil. I am a personal user of essential oils and these are some of my favorite uses and what oils can be used. Plus! A surprise recipe at the end.
For a powerful antiboitic and immune booster: Use Oregano oil. Put 1 drop per three gallons of water or put it in their food, but remember Oregano oil is very powerful, use in very small amounts. For Calming: Use Lavender oil. Put Lavender oil in a spray bottle and spray around the coop For Broody Hens: Use Lavender Oil. Put one drop of Lavender oil onto the nest boxes bedding to calm down a overprotective egg layer To purify the coop: Use Tea Tree Oil. Put Tea Tree oil into a spray bottle and spray around the coop to get rid of the stink. Recipe: Natural Disinfectant Need: Spray Bottle 1 cup of White Vinegar 5 drops of lemon oil 10 drops of tea tree oil 5 drops clove oil 5 drops orange oil Optional: 10 Drops of Lavender for scent Mix all the ingredients and fill up the rest of the spray bottle with water Signed, Riley
